Please call us for a complimentary consultation so that we can assess your suitability for E-LIGHT laser treatments versus ELECTROLYSIS based on your needs, your skin and hair type. Call us at 416-929-9000 or 416-979-8081.

We treat nearly every part of the body for permanent laser hair reduction but the most common areas are:

  • Face - including top lip, chin, jaw-line, neck (note that area around the eye can be treated only with electrolysis, as laser is dangerous around the eye area)
  • Legs and Bikini Line
  • Underarms and Arms
  • Back and shoulders
  • Chest, nipples and abdomen

As trained technicians, we take the time to discuss your options and answer your questions about hair removal.  Your appointments are coordinated, so that you can complete your evaluation and treatment in a few days. In our experience, we’ve found that if there is hair that we cannot effectively remove with lasers, we recommend treating it with electrolysis for permanent results.

Info about E-LIGHT

E- Light is short name for Elos- (Electro-optical Synergy)
E-light (IPL+RF) combines three advanced technologies:

  1. Bipolar Radio Frequency
  2. IPL
  3. Skin Contact Cooling

When the three are united in one treatment, you will see the results. Elos is the first and only technology that combines the power of both IPL (Intense Pulse Light) and RF (radio frequency energy).

E-LIGHT is the next generation of technology for permanent hair reduction for all skin and hair colors (dark, grey and blond), showing good results with no side-effects.

Developed by IPL inventor and patent holder (Dr. Shimon Eckhouse), this revolutionary technology overcomes the safety and procedural limitations of laser and IPL devices and is FDA, CE and CSA approved technology.

The E-Light treatment can get good result on the soft or thin hair so as to decrease the risk caused by traditional IPL treatment.

1. Are the results permanent?

Yes, you will notice significant hair reduction on all skin and hair types: provided that you follow through with the full course of treatment per our assessment. Some hair removal experts feel that laser removal may not work on 1-5% of patients.

At Bay Street Clinic, if there is hair that we cannot effectively remove with lasers, we will then treat it with ELECTROLYSIS to get permanent results.

4. Does the E-LIGHT treatment hurt?

There is some discomfort, but tolerance varies with each individual. For extremely sensitive areas a topical anesthetic can be used. Most people describe laser as similar to a pinch of a rubber band. Some people describe electrolysis as similar to a mosquito bite or a pinch. At the consultation, we will show you how our Laser works. Call us at 416-929-9000 or 416-979-8081.

5. What should I do before my E-LIGHT treatment?

Avoid sun exposure. You cannot wax, tweeze, thread or have electrolysis for 4-6 weeks before a treatment. To manage hair between appointments, please shave or trim. The goal is not to remove hair as we would have to wait for it to fully regenerate; try to just keep it cropped close to the skin. We need to see 2 to 3 days visible stubble of hair growth at minimum so that we can see the coverage area of the hair.

6. What happens after my permanent hair reduction treatment? Is there down-time or side effects?

There is very little if any recovery time, though you may have some redness following a treatment, this may last between one and eight hours. For 24 hours after your treatment you should avoid heat treatments, saunas and direct sun exposure, we recommend using sun block on exposed areas. You should allow around 14-20 days for the hairs to fall out following your treatments, you can aid this process by exfoliating.

We know from experience that a number of treatments are required over a period of at least 12 months for any area treated, this will vary between patients.

7. What kind of results can be expected?

Each treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, becoming finer and also slowing re-growth. The treated area will ‘shed’ some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks and there may be a short period of irregular hairlessness in the area until the conclusion of the course.

It takes more than one treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8 treatments; however, individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker colored hair.

8. What should I do to manage the hair between treatments?

Shaving is the recommended way to manage hair growth between treatments. Do not wax, tweeze or use any other process that pulls hair out by the roots.
